Michael L. Haynie is a principal with Manier & Herod. For over 20 years, he has specialized in representing employers and insurers in workers’ compensation claims. Mr. Haynie graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts from Auburn University and earned his Juris Doctor from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Mr. Haynie is admitted to practice law in Tennessee and Florida. He is a member of the American Bar Association, Tennessee Bar Association, Nashville Bar Association, Mid-South Workers’ Compensation Association, and the Defense Research Institute. Mr. Haynie is also a member of the Tennessee Defense Lawyers Association, where he currently serves as Vice President. Mr. Haynie also serves on the Tennessee Chamber of Commerce & Industry’s Human Resources Committee.
Mr. Haynie is frequently called upon to draft and advise on workers’ compensation legislation in the Tennessee General Assembly and has authored amicus briefs filed in the Tennessee Supreme Court on behalf of the business community. He is also actively involved in forums and rule making proceedings at the Tennessee Bureau of Workers’ Compensation. In recognition of his contributions to the Tennessee Workers’ Compensation Law, Mr. Haynie received the Tennessee Defense Lawyers Association 2016 Defense Lawyer of the Year award.
