Abigail Hudgens is the Administrator of the State of Tennessee’s Bureau of Workers’ Compensation. The state Workers’ Compensation program includes the Court of Workers’ Compensation Claims, Appeals Board, Mediation Program, Ombudsman Program, Uninsured Employers’ Fund, the Drug Free Workplace Program, the Second Injury Fund, the Employee Misclassification Fund, Claims, Penalty and the Medical Program that includes Utilization Review Appeals, Fee Schedule, Treatment Guidelines, and Drug Formulary.
Prior to leading the Bureau, Abbie was a consultant in the private sector, a risk manager for Nashville and Davidson County Metropolitan Government, and a risk and benefits manager for the city of Knoxville. A lifelong Tennessean, Abbie earned a B.A. from the University of Memphis and a M.P.A. from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. She has also earned an Associate in Claims (AIC) and an Associate in Risk Management (ARM) from the Insurance Institute of America.
She is the immediate past president of the Southern Association of Workers’ Compensation Administrators (SAWCA) and is the President Elect of the International Association of Industrial Accident Boards and Commissions (IAIABC). She is also a past president of the Public Risk Managers Association.
Abbie is married to Skip Hudgens and they have lived in Nashville since 2003. They have two children, John Hudgens and Lisa Hudgens who live in Knoxville.
