Building on the sailing skills learned at camp, students have the opportunity to further develop their knowledge and expertise in sailing. Students are guided through the fundamentals of sailing, including basic boat handling, rigging, and navigation.

Whilst understanding the technical skills required we build on the idea of risk management, which the program emphasizes, developing awareness and understanding of the safety elements and risks involved in water-based activities. Students will learn about proper equipment use, weather conditions, and emergency procedures, all while having fun out on the water.

The program offers a unique opportunity for students to work together in a team environment. Sailing requires communication, cooperation, and trust, and our program is designed to foster these important skills.

The Grade 7 students have an exciting and enriching experience camping on Koh Lon Island, just off the south of Phuket. The camp is facilitated by Java Sailing, a provider with a wealth of experience in sailing.

The students will spend several days learning the fundamental skills needed to both helm and crew a small dinghy craft. Under the guidance of experienced instructors, the students will gain confidence and proficiency in handling boats.

After several days of training, the students will embark on a short voyage, putting their newfound skills into practice as they navigate the open waters. This is a rewarding experience for the students, as they work together to overcome challenges and reach their destination.

The final days of the camp are dedicated to racing with their classmates. The students will put their skills to the test in a friendly competitive setting and will be able to experience the thrill of racing against their peers.

Throughout the camp, the students have the opportunity to explore and appreciate the natural beauty of the island, and to engage in other fun activities such as swimming and beach games.

The Grade 7 students have an incredible time at their sailing camp, and are able to develop valuable skills, and create cherished memories. The camp provides a unique opportunity for students to challenge themselves, step out of their comfort zones, and develop a deeper appreciation for the beauty and power of the sea.
