The UWC Thailand Grade 1 Outdoor Learning program is a unique and exciting way for students to learn while immersing themselves in the great outdoors. The program incorporates traditional classroom subjects such as math, english or science and provides opportunities to engage with these subjects outdoors. 

Through both a combination of outdoor activities and play-based learning, students are given the opportunity to develop new skills, gain knowledge about nature and the environment, and build strong relationships with their peers. 

Activities include exploring the school's lush green campus, participating in nature walks in the national parks and engaging in hands-on experiences  at the schools Outdoor Education Centre.

The program is designed to be fully immersive, allowing students to truly engage with nature and develop a sense of environmental stewardship. By encouraging an outdoor experiential philosophy, the program helps to instill a love and respect for the natural world that will last a lifetime.

At UWC Thailand, we believe that learning should be fun and engaging, and that the outdoors provides the perfect environment for students to explore, learn and grow. Our grade 1 Outdoor Learning program provides an exciting opportunity for students to experience the wonders of nature while building a strong foundation for their future academic success.

Grade 1 students get to experience the thrill of the great outdoors and learn new skills in a safe and familiar environment with our annual grade 1 camping adventure on campus at UWC Thailand. 

During their stay, students will have the opportunity to participate in a range of exciting activities, including hiking, river walking, visiting the gibbon sanctuary, and gathering around the campfire.Students have a great time, whilst they learn about nature, wildlife, and teamwork. 

This yearly event is a beautiful moment of cross-school collaboration and partnership, with secondary school students helping to set up the tents and dinner prepared by the afterschool pizza club ‘United World Crust’.

Although some students may initially feel nervous about spending a night away from home, they will be fully supported by their teachers and fellow students to feel safe and secure. This experience is undoubtedly a big day for all grade 1 students and will be remembered as one of their best school memories.
