Primary School Outdoor Education

Everyone gets involved

UWC Thailand places a high value on experiential learning and recognizes the importance of outdoor education in shaping students' perspectives on the natural world. The school's outdoor learning and outdoor education program from grade 1 to grade 5 and is designed to provide opportunities for hands-on learning experiences that foster a deeper understanding of the outdoors and the natural environment.

Some of the typical activities that can be found in UWC Thailand's outdoor learning program include nature walks and hikes, which offer children the chance to explore the natural environment and discover different habitats in the local area. For instance, students often spend time in our local national park or at the UWC Thailand Outdoor Education Centre both as part of their daily learning opportunities and for activity specific outdoor activities.

UWC Thailand's outdoor program is tailored to provide a diverse range of experiential learning activities that help students gain a deeper understanding of the natural world and the environment around them. By participating in these activities, students develop important life skills, a stronger appreciation for the environment, and a greater understanding of how their actions can impact the world around them.

In addition to this students participate in a yearly camp, starting at grade 1 for one night and extending to grade 5 for a total of days on camp engaging in a range of outdoor activities and building a range of positive experiences along the way. These camps are often a highlight of the school calendar and offer students the chance for a parent-free and digital-free experience. This truly provides a transformative learning opportunity and we regular see vast amounts of personal growth and development during camp.
