UWC Thailand Event Days are an essential part of the school's culture and values. They take place throughout the year and aim to engage as much of the school community as possible in outdoor activities, advocacy, stewardship, and awareness. These events are community-focused, and provide opportunities for parents, students, and teachers to come together and bond through these outdoor experiences.
One of the most popular events is the ‘Outdoor Community Day’, where parents, students, and teachers visit the Outdoor Education Centre for a day of fun and activities. This day is an excellent opportunity for families to get involved with the school and get to know other members of the community. Activities typically include kayaking, sailing, mountain biking and outdoor drama classes. The days is also filled with a wonderful community potluck dinner and this event help to strengthen the bonds within the community and foster a sense of belonging.
Value-aligned days are also an integral part of the UWC Thailand event calendar. These are days where the entire student population is engaged with one of the schools core values and the ‘Outdoor Value-Aligned Day’ allows students from every grade level to all get outside and participate with engaging outdoor activities and learning opportunities. These days help to reinforce the school's real values and provide opportunities for students to put them into practice.
Thailand is home to many different species of snakes, and it's essential for people to know how to stay safe when encountering them. On this day, students learn about the different types of snakes found in the region and how to stay safe if they come into contact with them. They learn about the importance of snakes in the ecosystem, how to coexist with them and have the opportunity to get up close and personal with a pair of rescued domesticated snakes, this experience is a thrilling experience for so many of our students.
The school also hosts several sailing regattas throughout the year for our students to participate in. These events provide opportunities for students to put their skills into practice and compete against other clubs in the region. It's an excellent opportunity for students to showcase their abilities on the local stage, before taking on competition at national and international level
