Grade 2 students are presented with a unique opportunity to actively contribute to environmental conservation efforts in Phuket. They take part in collecting mangrove pods, cultivating them in the school's mangrove nursery, and ultimately reforesting an area with their efforts.
As part of this unit, students have the chance to explore the local mangrove forests on traditional Thai longtail boats during field trips. These trips offer an immersive and educational experience where students can learn about the unique ecosystem of mangrove forests and their significance to the environment.
By observing the diverse wildlife and vegetation, students can develop a deeper understanding of the importance of conservation efforts. The field trips also provide an opportunity for students to appreciate the local culture and traditions of Phuket, as the longtail boats are a traditional mode of transportation in the area.
These hands-on experiences can foster a greater appreciation for nature and inspire students to become advocates for environmental protection in their community.
The Grade 2 students have an incredible experience during their camp, where they stay in tents at the beautiful Sawasdee Lagoon campsite in Phang Nga.
Throughout the camp, the students participate in a variety of activities that are both challenging and fun. They begin with a jungle hike at Khao Lampi, which is followed by paddling in the waterfall pool. The students are able to experience the beauty of the natural world while also learning about its importance and fragility.
In addition to these activities, the students engage in team games, kayaking, and raft building, all of which require them to work together and develop their communication and problem-solving skills. These experiences challenge the students in new and unfamiliar environments and encourage them to use their sense of personal responsibility and maturity to extend their belief in themselves.
This camp provides a wonderful opportunity for the students to do just that, and it is clear that they rise to the challenge.
The camp is a fantastic experience for the Grade 2 students, providing them with an opportunity to learn and grow in a safe and supportive environment. It is an unforgettable experience that allows them to develop new skills, make new friends, and gain a deeper appreciation for the natural world.
