Our kindergarten outdoor learning program is designed our students with a unique opportunity to explore the natural world around them, to develop a deep appreciation and understanding of their environment, that will stay with them throughout their lives.
Our program takes place in a range of outdoor spaces, including the UWC Thailand Outdoor Education Centre and the National Parks of Phuket, providing children with a diverse range of learning opportunities and experiences.
Our place-based approach means that we focus on the local environment, using the outdoor spaces available to us to provide children with opportunities to connect with their surroundings, to learn about the natural world, and to develop a sense of place. We encourage children to observe and interact with the natural world, to ask questions, and to make connections between the living things they encounter and the broader ecological systems in which they exist.
At the heart of our program is a play-based approach to learning, which we believe is the most effective way for young children to learn about the world around them. We encourage children to engage in outdoor play, to explore their surroundings, and to use their imagination to make sense of the world. We introduce the concept of risk management and allow students to learn from mistakes in supported environment that engages children in fun and meaningful learning experiences that are tailored to their individual needs.
