According to the Department of Transportation, 27 million passengers with disabilities traveled by air in 2019. Without access to information, appropriate support, and communication, passengers experiencing disabilities may face debilitating challenges during their air travel. Our goal is to design an inclusive workshop toolkit to understand barriers to air travel, by promoting engagement and collaboration with people experiencing disabilities. Informed by our research, we have prepared an inclusive workshop toolkit specifically around air travel. As a design solution, we designed A11Y/Lab which is an open-source tool and repository for accessibility-focused material that helps prepare inclusive workshops.
