Steps
- Remove debris
Remove all debris that won't allow the insulation to touch the attic floor or stay at a consistent depth.
2. Install baffles
All vented soffits need to be baffled to the exterior side of the top plate with a 1" clearance from roof deck extending at least 6" above the depth of insulation to be installed.
3. Flag junction boxes
Verify the following: all electrical boxes have a cover, knob and tube is not energized or is baffled around, and flags are installed at all utility junctions that can be seen above the final level of the insulation.
4. Install rulers
At a minimum of 1 per 300 square feet, depth rulers need to be installed with the bottom touching the attic floor.
5. Install high-temp shielding
Follow steps for Air Seal and Dam Hi Temp Attic Penetrations
