Must comply with ANSI-UL 2034.
Utah WAP program guidelines require that new detectors must have a digital display with test and reset button.
Alarms must have a locked battery compartment and be powered by a long life lithium battery.
Detector shall have a 10 year manufacturer warranty.
Remove all existing detectors that are older than 4 years or inoperable.
Look for an installation dates on device or battery.
Write the date of installation on the label of the new detector.
Install CO detector(s) near bedrooms. On floors where floor plan has bedrooms separated by a living area or distance further than 10' additional. CO monitors should be placed so 1 monitor is within 10 feet of each bedroom.
Be sure to maintain 6 inch clearance from the ceiling.
Don’t install detectors within 15 feet of gas ranges or combustion devices.

Test newly installed detectors to ensure proper operation.
Leave owners manual and educate client on detector operation and maintenance.
