Alarm Installed
Install smoke alarm(s) labeled UL 217.
If hard wired, connect the alarm to a circuit that is energized at all times.
If battery powered, a 10 year non-replaceable lithium battery shall be used and it shall be in a sealed compartment.
Remove only old alarm(s) that are being replaced.
Pre existing hardwired alarm(s) shall be replaced with hardwired alarm(s).
Pre existing battery powered alarm(s) shall be replaced with battery powered alarm(s).
Write the date of installation on the label of the new alarm(s)
If mounted on a wall, mount the alarm(s) from 4 to 12 inches from the ceiling.
If mounted on a ceiling, mount the alarm(s) at least 6 inches from the nearest wall.
Do not mount within 3 ft of a bathroom door or within 10 ft of a cooking appliance.
Install smoke detector(s) per work order.
Install smoke alarm(s) inside each bedroom, outside each sleeping area and on every level of the home, including the basement.
On levels without bedrooms, install alarm(s) in the living room (or den or family room) or near the stairway to the upper level, or in both locations.
Test newly installed alarm(s) to ensure proper operation.
Leave owners manual and educate client on detector operation and maintenance.
