Author: Dalton
Tempered glass will be installed as required by local codes.
Workers need to wear the proper PPE when working with glass (e.g. kevlar cut resistant sleeves, kevlar gloves, safety glasses, etc.)
Review work orders to determine if Lead Safe RRP is required.
When require, follow RRP guidance in section (need reference).
Verify your new glass will fit before removing old glazing
Remove all the old glass and stops from the window sash
Remove old glazing or glazing tape and any debri that will prevent the new glass from sitting flush in the frame
On applicable windows (e.g. vinyl, aluminum, etc.) install glazing tape in the frame leaving the release liner on top.
Install glass in opening (when using glazing tape pull the release liner out from under the window once the window is in place)
Install glazing points or stops as appropriate for the type of window you are working on.
On applicable windows (e.g. wood, steel, etc.) Run a bead of glazing compound or equivalent around the perimeter of the glass. (Here's a link to a video that covers glazing in detail)
Occupants will be notified of changes or repairs made and will be educated on how to operate and maintain the window
Conduct a Worst Case draft test to verify Category I, II, and III appliances are venting safely before leaving home for the day.
Testing shall be recorded using the Utah WAP Worst Case Draft Test form.
