*A majority of our reading time in first grade is spent in guided reading groups. Guided reading provides an opportunity for the teacher to teach reading in relation to the differentiated needs of the pupil groups and their level of achievement. Your child will be given an Individual Reading Inventory to determine their guided reading level during the first quarter. Guided reading groups will continue throughout the school year.
