On December 19, 2025, the University of Nueva Caceres (UNC), through its University Research Center (URC), held the Student Research Summit 2025 in UNC's new building, room 301. Anchored by the Theme “From Discovery to Impact: Empowering Careers through Research Innovation,” the summit served as a venue to recognize and showcase student research addressing real-world issues across various academic disciplines.
The summit commenced with welcoming remarks from the Vice President of Research and Linkages, Engr. Christine C. Bautista, followed by a message from the OIC-VPAA, Ms. Agnes T. Reyes. And lastly, a special message from the UNC President, Dr. Fay Lea Patria M. Lauraya.
Affirming the value of student-led inquiry as the driver of innovation, community responsiveness, and academic growth. By bringing together researchers, mentors, and panelists, the event created a collaborative environment where research was not only presented but also examined in ways that encouraged improvement and deeper reflection.
Dean of the Graduate School and Director of the Center for Local Governance at Ateneo de Naga University, Dr. Malu Barcillano, served as the plenary speaker for the summit. Her presentation titled “Empowering and Advancing Career through Research” underscored the critical role of research in shaping professional growth, enhancing expertise, and opening pathways for leadership in various fields.
After the plenary session, the summit features parallel research presentations under several thematic tracks. These included: Track 2 – Dynamic Business Models and Economic Growth for Sustainability; Track 3 – Integrative Health, Community Well-being, and Social Sciences; and Track 4 – Inclusive Quality Education for Sustainable Development and Leadership.
Through the panel discussions and evaluation sessions, participants were given valuable insights that may help improve their studies and future research outputs. The event demonstrated the university’s continuing commitment to fostering a strong research community and promoting academic excellence among students.
The summit concluded with closing remarks from University Research Center Director Claze Therese Lasala, followed by an awarding ceremony honoring outstanding students' achievements. Winners from all tracks were recognized, with prizes given to the top three best paper presentations and the best research poster. These accolades celebrated academic excellence and emerging student leaders, encouraging them to continue engaging in impactful research.
