On March 7, 2026, the University of Nueva Caceres – University Research Center conducted a timely seminar, "AI in Research: Don't Let Bots Steal Your Research Integrity," addressing the growing role of artificial intelligence in academic work. The event opened an important conversation on the responsible and ethical use of AI in research.
The initiative was led by Engr. Claze Therese Lasala, Director of the University Research Center; Dean Agnes T. Reyes, OIC Vice President for Academic Affairs; and Engr. Christine C. Bautista, Vice President for Research, Extension, and Linkages, as part of the university's continuing effort to equip students and researchers with the knowledge and awareness needed in today's evolving research landscape.
The event was graced by UNC President Dr. Fay Lea Patria M. Lauraya, who delivered the opening remarks and expressed the university's continued commitment to advancing research and academic excellence.
Participants also gained valuable insights from Dr. Challiz De Lima-Omorog, Vice President for Research, Innovation, and Collaboration of the Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges, who shared an engaging and insightful discussion on navigating AI responsibly in research.
Due to overwhelming registrations, the seminar was made a hybrid event, with participants joining via Zoom live stream or on-site at the UNC Social Hall. The session ran from 8:00 AM to 12:00 NN, equipping attendees with practical strategies to enhance their work without compromising research integrity.
Through initiatives like this, the University of Nueva Caceres continues to empower students and researchers to embrace emerging technologies while upholding the highest standards of research integrity, preparing them to become ethical and future-ready leaders in their respective fields.
