On March 24, 2025, the UNC University Research Center hosted its annual research colloquium, the Student Research Summit 2025, with the theme "Empowering Change: Research as an Instrument for Sustainable Futures." The summit focused on four key areas aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-being, SDG 4 – Quality Education, SDG 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth, and SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals.
Students from all post-graduate and undergraduate departments, as well as the Senior High School division, actively participated in the event. A total of 40 research papers were presented, distributed across the four SDGs: 10 papers each for SDG 3 and SDG 8, 11 papers for SDG 4, and 9 papers for SDG 17.
The summit was graced by inspiring messages from key university leaders, including Engr. Christine C. Bautista (Vice President for Research, Extension, and Linkages), Romeo Sumayp Jr. (Vice President for Academic Affairs), and Dr. Fay Lea Patria M. Lauraya (University President). The plenary session featured a talk by Ar. Mariel May S. Gamalinda, Director of the UNC Sustainability Initiatives, Linkages, and Partnerships Office, emphasized the importance of heritage preservation, with a special focus on the current status of Naga City.
Following the plenary, participants proceeded to their designated rooms for the Student Parallel Sessions, grouped according to their assigned SDG. The panels for each SDG were as follows:

SDG 4: Dr. Lorlie Tanjay & Dr. Ana Marie Binalla
SDG 8: Ar. Mariel May S. Gamalinda, MIAD & Engr. Roy Tipones
SDG 17: Engr. Christine Bautista & Sheila May Nollora, CPA
The parallel sessions ran from 10:30 AM to 3:30 PM, after which the panelists deliberated on the results. The awarding ceremony, led by Engr. Claze There Lasala (UNC Research Director), recognized the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd best papers in each category, as well as the winners of the Best Poster award. Engr. Lasala also delivered heartfelt closing remarks, marking the successful conclusion of the event.
