Department employees who are issued keys are responsible for the safe and proper handling of the keys to maintain security of EdSci space. All keys must be returned upon separation from the Department, or surrendered upon written or verbal demand.
There is a $25 charge for each office or cabinet key not returned, a $75 charge for each sub-master or master key not returned, and a $150 charge for each Master key not returned. These funds are to be used to offset re-keying costs for the Department. The Department Access Coordinator is responsible for the distribution and collection of keys, and will be appointed by the Director or Department Head.
Anyone duplicating, possessing, or using keys or access cards to university premises without authorization will be subject to disciplinary actions from the University and/or criminal charges where appropriate. All keys issued by the University of Minnesota, Department of Educational Psychology, are intended for Department related business, and are not to be transferred or loaned to anyone. Loss or theft of any keys must be reported to the University Police Department and your Department Access Coordinator immediately. Keys should be returned upon separation from the University, or when no longer useful. You are encouraged to review the University Policy governing keys and access to buildings which can be found at https://policy.umn.edu/operations/buildingaccess.
If you have questions regarding this policy, please see the Department Access Coordinator.
