The Department of Educational Psychology will use indirect cost recovery funds (ICR) to further the development of research activities aimed at facilitating acquisition of research funds. ICR funds are awarded to faculty and staff, post-docs, and students that apply for mini grant funds.
In 2020 the Research Committee outlined what ICR funds are and how these funds are used in Ed Psych in an effort educate faculty.
ICR funds also are known as Facilities and Administrative (F&A) funds, reflecting costs that those funds cover. ICR funds are an important component of requests for external support for research and training. The ICR rate is negotiated between the University and the Federal Government for on-campus research, and represents the allowable costs of supporting research, including research lab space, heat and light, building maintenance, library costs, administration of grants, etc. (Because of the different costs, off-campus research is supported at a rate lower than on-campus research.)
