The Anti-Racism Action Council (ARAC) is an ad-hoc (non-permanent) department committee made up of faculty, staff, and students. The committee was formed in the wake of the murder of George Floyd to develop the department’s Anti-Racist Action Plan and bring about concrete action steps to achieve our goals to promote anti-racism, anti-bias, diversity, equity, and inclusion in our department.
The purpose of ARAC is to facilitate department-wide development and implementation of our action plan. The committee will:
Gather and compile anti-racist goals from programs and committees
Establish actions steps with a timeline
Identify resources needed to implement the plan
Serve as liaisons across programs/committees, council, and department to prompt action according to the timeline
Advise chair and department regarding progress and recommendations for continuous improvement
