Retracting a scientific article is an official procedure used in cases of violation of ethical norms, academic integrity, or detection of significant scientific errors.
Grounds for retraction: detection of plagiarism; falsification or fabrication of data; double publication; violation of copyright; incorrect determination of authorship; presence of significant scientific errors; concealment of a conflict of interest.
An appeal for retraction can be submitted by: authors of the article; reviewers; readers; representatives of scientific institutions; members of the editorial board. The appeal must contain justification and relevant evidence.
Consideration of the appeal. The editorial board conducts a fact-check, involves experts (if necessary) and provides the authors with the opportunity to provide explanations. Based on the results of the review, a decision is made to: reject the appeal; make corrections; retract the article.
In case of retraction: a message is published on the journal website with an explanation of the reasons; the electronic version of the article is marked as "WITHDRAWN"; the information is transmitted to the relevant scientometric databases.
Appeal. Authors have the right to file an appeal within 30 calendar days from the date of receipt of the decision. The appeal is considered by independent experts, whose decision is final.
