Abstract:

The article is devoted to the theoretical substantiation of the educational potential of musical art in forming the foundations of Ukrainian national identity in older preschool children. The relevance of the study is determined by contemporary sociocultural transformations of Ukrainian society caused by the military aggression of the russian federation, globalization processes, the intensification of information influence, and migration phenomena, which require increased attention to the national and patriotic education of the younger generation.

The article emphasizes that older preschool age is a sensitive period for the formation of initial ideas about national belonging, native language, culture, and traditions. The regulatory and legal framework (the Basic Component of Preschool Education and the laws of Ukraine) as well as scientific approaches of Ukrainian researchers to the problem of forming Ukrainian national identity and the role of art in this process are analyzed.

The significance of musical art is substantiated as a universal pedagogical means that influences the emotional and sensory sphere of the child, promotes the development of aesthetic feelings, creative self-expression, and the formation of a positive attitude toward Ukrainian culture. Special attention is paid to the use of Ukrainian musical folklore, the works of classical composers, as well as modern Ukrainian children’s and pop music as factors that combine traditional and contemporary cultural processes. It is proved that the pedagogically adapted use of modern musical interpretations enhances children’s interest in national art, forms a sense of its relevance, and contributes to awareness of the importance of Ukrainian music in the national and global cultural space.

The article concludes that the systematic use of musical art in the educational process of preschool education institutions and in family upbringing is an effective means of forming an emotional and value-based attitude toward Ukrainian culture and the foundations of Ukrainian national identity in older preschool children.
