Abstract:
The study of the role of authentic texts requires the use of a set of methods that allow comprehensively characterizing the processes of the cultural and educational sphere. The research methods are determined by the specifics of scientific analysis, which combines the history of the emergence of artistic styles and genres, the development of various types of culture and art history, and is also based on the principles of historicism, systematics of the material and interdisciplinarity. The task of the research is to maintain interest in the scientific community in the problem of studying the variant of the modern authentic English language, which sooner or later will again appear before the country as the future center of the European community.
The techniques of working with authentic texts are listed, which are carried out in three stages: 1) Pre-reading (pre-text stage). Familiarization with key vocabulary, predicting the content from illustrations, 2) While-reading (working with the text). Searching for the main idea, analysis of artistic means, highlighting professional vocabulary. 3) Post-reading (post-text stage). discussion, writing a review or description of comparison with one’s own works.
The most commonly used visual-verbal techniques for describing paintings according to a professional scheme are indicated, image analysis through questions, role-playing games with such roles as «a gallery or museum guide», «an art critic», «an artist interview». Examples of the application of these techniques are given. The main topics and subtopics of the curriculum in a foreign professional artistic language are named, which are presented as updated and adapted to the needs of the modern social state of post-war reconstruction. It is emphasized that the main goal of adapting original texts is to facilitate the perception of the material without losing its content and artistic value. Adaptation of texts is achieved by simplifying vocabulary and grammar, reducing the volume of the text, explaining complex language structures and cultural realities. It is confirmed that adapted texts contribute to the development of reading skills, analysis, interpretation of professional speech. They also help to form lexical competence in the field of art, literature or creative professions. It is argued that the adaptation of authentic texts is an important methodological tool in teaching English, in particular in the field of professionally oriented artistic speech.
Authentic texts (excerpts from literary works, scripts, essays, critical materials) provide a real linguistic artistic environment, reflect the cultural features and stylistic richness of both native and foreign languages. Effective adaptation should take into account the level of students’ language proficiency, their professional needs and learning goals, in accordance with which training exercises are developed. It is noted that the adaptation of authentic texts is an effective means of forming professional foreign language competence of students of fine arts specialties, it allows you to combine speech training with a professional context, develops critical thinking and promotes creative self-realization of students.
At the same time, it is emphasized on the gradual transition from adapted to original texts in order to ensure the authenticity of linguistic experience. and combine the accessibility of learning with the preservation of the cultural and artistic value of the material. And the use of modern methods and techniques for studying material through original texts involves a gradual transition from adapted materials to completely authentic professional speech.
