Abstract:
The article analyzes the development of musical culture in Luhansk region at the end of the 20th and beginning of the 21st centuries. It emphasizes that Luhansk region, as one of the important industrial regions, occupied an important place in the cultural and artistic space of the country, combining national and regional features and having strong roots and traditions. strong roots and traditions. The 1990s, despite the economic circumstances, became a new qualitative stage in the development of the musical culture of the Luhansk region.
Luhansk region is a unique and interesting territory in terms of musical culture, as it encompasses many cultures and traditions due to historically formed circumstances. Numerous creative groups and individual performers shaped the face of regional professional musical creativity throughout the 20th century. The Luhansk Regional Philharmonic was established in 1943, and the symphony orchestra was created in 1945. They played a significant role in the formation and development of the cultural and artistic life of the region in the second third of the 20th century. Various forms of concert activity – symphonic and chamber concerts, lectures, classical music decades, summer evenings – contributed to the involvement of a wide audience in musical culture, and a large selection of classical, pop, and popular programs satisfied listeners of all ages and artistic tastes.
The country’s independence in the 1990s opened up new opportunities for culture, but economic factors prevented national culture from developing to its full potential. Every year, many different music competitions and festivals, from city to international level, were held in the Luhansk region. This was a period of flourishing creative activity for such bright and well-known folk artists of Ukraine as V. I. Samartsev, D. A. Yakubovich, V. M. Savchenko, and V. I. Andriyanenko, who combined creative and pedagogical activities at the Taras Shevchenko National University of Luhansk.
It is known that in the 1990s, considerable attention was paid to the development of musical culture among the younger generation. Children’s Music Weeks were introduced, children’s creative groups in Luhansk flourished, and the children’s philharmonic orchestra developed. Luhansk Pedagogical University played a significant role in the development of musical culture in the late 1990s, establishing creative contacts with foreign cultural figures. At the beginning of the new century, the Institute of Culture and Arts of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University trained 33 winners of international and national competitions. A significant event in the musical life of Luhansk at the beginning of the 21st century was the start of creative collaboration between the Luhansk Philharmonic and the Austrian conductor, talented composer, and performer Kurt Schmid. The orchestra toured extensively throughout Europe.
Unfortunately, at the end of the 20th and beginning of the 21st centuries, the complex sociocultural situation and economic difficulties significantly hampered the process of transformation. Despite the economic circumstances, this period was marked by significant artistic achievements, and artistic culture became one of the determining factors in the progress of society and the development of its statehood.
