Abstract:
The article is devoted to the study of an innovative educational format for training military interpreters that involves integrating real military-tactical (field-based/scenario-based) training into the process of teaching English oral interpretation to philology students. The relevance of the study is determined by the growing role of military interpreting in the context of international military cooperation, joint exercises, and security operations, as well as by the mismatch between traditional classroom-based interpreter training and real conditions of professional practice.
The article analyzes contemporary scholarly approaches to the use of simulations, role-playing, and innovative technologies in translation education and examines the impact of stress on cognitive and linguistic processes.
A unique educational experience is described in which philology students directly participate in military-tactical training and perform the functions of oral interpreters during instructions, briefings, tactical scenarios, inter-unit interaction, and the simulation of crisis situations.
The results of observations, video analysis, and comparative interpreting tasks indicate the presence of a measurable learning effect manifested in increased speed and stability of oral interpretation, a reduction in linguistic disruptions, greater confidence in professional spoken communication, and the development of skills for professional interaction with military specialists.
