Student employees are an essential part of the Interlibrary Loan team. Without student assistants, ILL could not operate.
Wear closed toed shoes while at work.
Arrive on time.
Complete tasks efficiently and accurately.
Do not use cell phones at work.
Be considerate of those who share our open office space.
Treat co-workers and patrons with respect.
Follow proper safety procedures and report unsafe conditions immediately.
Record all time worked accurately in cruzpay at the end of each shift.
At the beginning of every quarter, a student supervisor will set each student assistant’s schedule. These schedules will remain in place until the end of the quarter. Frequent absences or shifts changes are unacceptable. Repeated absences can lead to termination. Your supervisor may ask that you seek coverage for your shifts depending on unit needs.
All student assistants are on probationary status for the first quarter that they are employed in Interlibrary Loan.
If you're going to be late, even if it's only by a couple of minutes please try to let us know. Let staff know when your shift starts and give an estimate of how late you think you will be.
If you are over ten minutes late to your work shift, the assumption will be that you start work at the next 15 minute interval and fill out your timesheet accordingly. For example, if you were scheduled to start at 1:30 but arrived at 1:40, you would need to wait until 1:45 to start your shift. If you were scheduled to work 5 hours, you would fill out your timesheet as 4.75 hours.
Alternatively, you can check in with any of the staff members and, if scheduling allows, work the normal length of your shift starting immediately. In the example above, you would start working at 1:40 once you've checked in with a staff member and would end your shift at 6:40 (instead of 6:30) so you could fill out your timesheet with the full 5 hours.
We want to do our best to make sure you have the opportunity to work as many of your scheduled hours as possible in the case of extenuating circumstances. Similarly, we don't want anyone to be working during a period of time they aren’t getting paid for. If you are regularly struggling to make it to your shift on time, we can talk over changing your work schedule to better suit your needs.
