The goal of this task is too process items that other UC libraries have lent us and get them ready to give to UCSC patrons.
Prep checklist:
Get the "Receiving" cart
Separate AFN items from VDX items
Notes:
Leaving items on the cart and in the order they are processed can make later steps easier
Receiving items in Alma
Navigate to "Fulfillment" > "Scan in Items"
Scan each item's barcode
If an error pops up, ask a staff member
Check the "Next Step" box for each book
If "On Hold Shelf" is listed, set aside
If "in transit to Science & Engineering" is listed, set aside in a separate pile
If anything else is listed, ask a staff member
Notes:
Make sure your location is set to "McHenry Library - McHenry Circulation Desk"
NRLF books will have 2 barcodes, use the NRLF titled one on the spine
If the physical item has a "Building Use Only" or a "Library Use Only" label, strap the item with the red Library Use Only cardstock strap, and let ILL staff know so that they can notify the patron.
2. Printing Slips
Navigate to "Admin" > "Printouts Queue" and select all, then press "Print Slip"
Make sure double sided isn't selected
Try to select "Black & White" to save ink
Fold the slip in half and match to its appropriate item while removing the old slip
Place the slip in the item facing upwards so the patron's name is visible
If you kept the items in the order they were scanned, the slips will have printed in the same order
Place any old slips into the shred bin when able
Notes:
Make sure your printer is set to "ILL Canon"
3. Place items on shelf
Shelve books on the hold shelf by patron's last name
Shelve media, fragile, oversized, and library use only items in their respective locations
