This course is an introduction to the physical sciences—chemistry and physics, with a review of selected earth science concepts. The Honors class is taught at an advanced pace and a science project is required. This course heavily integrates mathematics. 8th grade end of year math scores must be basic or above to qualify.
Honors physical science is an advanced first year course for high school freshmen. Emphasizes advanced application and science skills needed to understand the physical worlds we live in. Students will utilize technology, laboratory activities, problem-solving and critical-thinking skills to enhance understanding and application of scientific reasoning. This course is a mixture of concepts in preparation for physics and chemistry. Students will learn the basic concepts of Newton’s laws, energy, light, structure of matter, and chemical equations. Students knowledge and application of math is essential.
Honors requires completion of a science fair project including a research paper.
