This course deals with the relationship between man and his environment. Major topics covered in this class include: ecological systems, population, energy/food, biodiversity, biomes, pollution, and selected earth science topics.
Environmental Science Honors is a collaborative study that investigates how humans interact with the natural world. The goal of this course is to provide students with the scientific principles, concepts, and methodologies required to understand the interrelationships of the natural world, to identify and analyze environmental problems, both natural and human-made, to evaluate the relative risks associated with these problems, and to examine alternative solutions for resolving and/or preventing them. Environmental Science Honors is interdisciplinary; it embraces a wide variety of topics from different areas of study. The course consists of lab activities, data collection and analysis, group and individual projects, topic discussions, lecture discussions, video presentations, student presentations, text reading assignments and field activities.
