Course Description

The major topics include cellular biology, heredity/genetics, ecology, evolution, and the Terrebonne Parish approved unit on sex education. There are 18 hours of lab work throughout the course.

Required for graduation; includes LEAP 2025 End of Year Exam.

Honors Course Description

In the Honors class, students are expected to work at an accelerated pace, with some independent work in order to address higher level concepts. Honors Biology students will be required to participate in a semester long project on water quality and analysis. All Honors students will be part of “Bayouside Classroom” sponsored by LUMCON. Students will collect samples, test samples, post data on LUMCON’s website, analyze data, and compare data to other schools in the parish, and keep a lab notebook that will be included as a percentage of the final grade for the course.
