This course will help a student obtain the knowledge and skills necessary to make food choices which will contribute to overall health. A student will learn how diet affects athletic performance, how to achieve your ideal weight, and how to use kitchen tools and equipment to prepare food. Some schools have a foods lab fee.
This course takes students beyond the basics. Topics include food safety, meal planning, advanced cooking and baking techniques, foods from around the world, and careers in the food and beverage industry. At some schools, the student is responsible for the cost of some food supplies. Must pass Culinary Occupations I and II before taking this course at THS only.
