Why isn't my thermometer display showing any readings?
My smoke receiver has no display. I tried the reset on both units, but it didn’t fix it.
The receiver screen is blank. It beeps alarms and the backlight works, but you can't see any words or numbers.
Which device do you have or which component seems to be acting up?
Have you recently replaced the batteries in your thermometer?
Was the thermometer working correctly before this issue started?
Has the thermometer recently experienced any trauma that you know about? (ie. dropped, spilled on, exposed to excessive heat, etc.)
Can you send over images or a video of the behavior to help me better understand what's going on? (Pictures and videos are most helpful when they show both the front and back of the device including an image of the open battery compartment)
Based on the responses to those questions, there are a few common solutions:
Battery Replacement: Even if your batteries are new, it's always a good idea to try a fresh set of high-quality batteries. Please make sure they are fully inserted with the correct polarity. Low batteries, a faulty batch or incorrect/incomplete installation can prevent the device from powering on or functioning as expected.
Water Ingress or Damage Inspection: Please carefully check your thermometer for any signs of water. This might include condensation under the display, discoloration in the display or battery case, or corrosion in the battery compartment. If you suspect water damage, please share any details about what you know or suspect about water ingress. The device may need to be professionally serviced or replaced if water ingress has occurred.
Physical Trauma Assessment: If your thermometer has experienced any physical trauma, please share any details and inspect it thoroughly for any visible cracks or damage. Pay close attention to the battery cover, the display itself, and the main housing. Even small cracks can indicate internal damage that could affect the display.
