The ThermoWorks "BlueDOT®" is a single-probe, leave-in cooking alarm thermometer that uses Bluetooth® wireless technology to transmit temperature data to a smartphone or tablet. The "BlueDOT" does not use WiFi, it only uses Bluetooth.
Guaranteed Results: Eliminates guesswork in cooking. The high/low alarm system notifies the user the moment food reaches its target temperature, preventing over- or under-cooking.
Data-Driven Cooking: The app graphs the entire cook session, providing valuable data and insight into temperature trends, stall points (for BBQ), and oven performance. Cook graphs can be saved and exported.
Professional-Grade Accuracy & Durability: Leverages ThermoWorks' reputation for high accuracy (±1.8°F) and robust, IP65 splash-proof construction, ensuring reliable performance and a long product life.
Transmission Range: 95 feet (30 meters) line-of-sight
"BlueDOT" will communicate up to 95 feet line-of-sight unless other factors are involved such as interference or some types of building materials
Display: 1.35 H x 1.35 W inches (34 H x 34 W mm), with backlight
Battery: 2 x AAA, 500-hour battery life
If your "BlueDot" is displaying a temperature on the display, but not in the app, try these steps:
Option 1- You can see the device listed in your app, AND you've previously been able to track temperatures in the app:
Check for the Bluetooth logo on the left side of the "BlueDot" display, slightly above the horizontal line. If not present, turn the "BlueDOT" off by holding the power button for 6 seconds until it turns off. Press the button again to turn it back on. If the Bluetooth indicator doesn't return, contact the ThermoWorks Technical Support Team.
Bring your "BlueDOT" thermometer near your mobile device and go into the probe "settings" in the lower right-hand corner of the page and scroll down to verify your Transmission Interval Rate, and then in the Bluetooth settings, click "connect." If the yellow button says "Disconnect," your device connected automatically and you check the time stamp of the last update and signal strength to confirm connectivity. The Bluetooth indicator at in the top right corner of the app will also be illuminated blue when connected.
Option 2- You see the device listed in your app, but it the temperature doesn't appear to be changing in the app to match the display on the device:
Check the status of your Transmission Interval Rate to ensure it's set to an interval that will match your needs (NOTE: battery life is impacted by the Transmission Interval Rate.)
Confirm the presence of the Bluetooth logo on the left side of the "BlueDOT" display, slightly above the horizontal line and that the Bluetooth indicator at in the top right-hand corner of the app is illuminated blue. If either is missing, ensure that the Bluetooth is enabled on your mobile device and then turn the "BlueDOT" off and back on to see if it reappears. If it doesn't appear on the "BlueDOT" display, contact the ThermoWorks Technical Support Team. If the Bluetooth indicator appears on the display, the Bluetooth is enabled on the mobile device, but the Bluetooth logo in the upper right-hand corner is grayed out, bring the "BlueDOT" near the mobile device and go into the probe "settings" in the lower right-hand corner of the page and scroll down to verify your Transmission Interval Rate, and then in the Bluetooth settings, click "connect." If the yellow button says "Disconnect," your device connected automatically and you check the time stamp of the last update and signal strength to confirm connectivity. The Bluetooth indicator at in the top right corner of the app will also be illuminated blue when connected
NOTE: Occasionally, a first connection or reconnection after turning the device off or changing the batteries may require 3-5 minutes of processing before it begins regular transmissions on the selected Transmission Interval Rate. If, after 5 minutes of waiting for regular transmissions, you still don't see regular transmissions, change your Transmission Interval Rate and wait the given interval for the transmission. Once the the updates begin reflecting the Transmission Interval Rate, you can change it back to your desired interval.
