Cleaning the Bath and Shower Area

Cleaning the bathroom

Before starting to clean the bathroom, the following must be observed:

  • Check lights inside the bathroom

  • Collect all used towels and place them in the soiled laundry bag

  • Collect all used bathroom supplies: soap, shampoo, conditioner

  • Inspect the shower curtain, replace when necessary

  • Check if electrical equipment inside bathroom is working

  • Check fixtures and fittings inside the bathroom for damage

Damages or faults should immediately be reported to the floor supervisor or the maintenance office for repair.

Handling Syringes

Sometimes syringes can be found inside the guest room. Proper handling of syringes is important for the Room Attendant's safety

Steps if a syringe is found:

1. Keep calm.

2. Use gloves to handle the needle, never use your bare hands and never attempt to put the cap back on the needle.

3. Look for a suitable plastic container.

4. Put the syringe inside the plastic container without having direct contact with it.

5. Seal the plastic container tightly.

6. Wash hands immediately.

7. Notify appropriate person for proper disposal.

Cleaning the bath

Always wear protective gloves when cleaning the bathroom

Take extra caution since many injuries occur when cleaning the bathroom.

Steps in cleaning the shower / bath tub:

1. Check the drain and pop up / plug for hairs and foreign matter

2. Wet the sides of the bath tub then scrub with scouring pad and detergent and rinse

3. Clean the shower curtain - replace if dirty

5. Polish fittings

6. Replenish the bathroom amenities

7. Conduct final check
