It certainly is an unusual start, with the first week of practice occurring during winter break, and with the Nordic and Basketball seasons not yet over.
Nevertheless, it is time to get going! The season is short and your competitors aren't taking this week off.
Distance practices are at 8:00 a.m. this week - meeting in the turf field. These are especially important for those track team members who didn't do a winter sport.
• Monday: 8:00 @ SHS Turf Field
• Tuesday: 8:00 @ SHS Turf Field
• Wednesday: 8:00 @ SHS Turf Field
• Thursday: 8:00 @ SHS Turf Field
• Friday: 8:00 @ SHS Turf Field
• Saturday: 8:00 @ Frisco Nordic Center
Nordic team members won't join track full-time until after the State Championship Thursday and Friday, but optionally will lift and do some light lower leg strengthening exercises Monday before Nordic practice at 10:00 at GRNC.

Please make sure your physical is up to date. It likely is if you ran cross country or did another sport. But some expire mid-year. Check!
That includes nutrition.
You can't show up to practice under-fueled and dehydrated and perform your best.
Under-fueling can have severe negative consequences for athletes, impacting both their physical and mental performance.
When athletes do not consume enough calories or nutrients, they risk experiencing decreased energy levels, reduced endurance, and slower recovery times.
Under-fueling can increase susceptibility to injuries and a weakened immune system, making athletes more prone to illnesses.
Under-fueling can affect cognitive functions such as concentration, decision-making, and reaction times.
Long-term under-fueling can also result in serious health issues like nutrient deficiencies, hormonal imbalances, and disordered eating patterns.
Ensuring adequate and balanced nutrition is essential for athletes to maintain peak performance and overall well-being. That means athletes need to be consuming multiple meals and snacks throughout the day.
