WHEN: Tuesday, April 26th 2022
WHERE: Battle Mountain High School
DISTANCE RESULTS:
For the first time this season we ran boys and girls 4x800 and 4x400 relays! That was great to see and there were great performances, with all four relays leading through the first 3 legs. The girls 4x800 of Ella, Adaline, Cece and Paige knocked 45 seconds off the previous best time. The boys 4x800 of Dom, Lucas, Roan and Landon took 60 seconds off our previous best.
Despite strong winds we had three new PRs. Paige ran a new season's best of 6:47.68 in the 1600 for 12th place. Adaline ran a PR of 2:52.37 in the 800 for 9th place and Lucas also ran a PR in the 800 of 2:20.37 for 8th place. Of note, three times now, after a disappointing 1600 runners have come back with a PR in the 800. (Dom did it at D'Evelyn.) One bad race does not mean a bad day.
Technically also new PRs were Cece and Roan's first high school 3200s. Cece finished 3rd in 14:18.35 while Roan finished 7th in 12:51.99. Cece makes an entry at 8th in the record SHS Freshman 3200 times, while Roan set the 13th fastest SHS Sophomore 3200 time.
Lucas moved up to 10th in the SHS Senior Boys 800 rankings and 16th in the overall SHS 800 rankings. Adaline moved up to 7th in the Sophomore Girls 800 rankings and 19th all time.
Also scoring points were Dom winning the 800 (after some finishing stretch argy bargy and a DQ) in 2:01.90 and Ella winning the 800 in 2:25.66. Those "disappointing" 1600s for Adaline and Lucas still scored us points, with Adaline finishing in 4th with a 6:25.39 and Lucas 7th in 5:38.77.
A shout out to Emily Koetteritz for setting a new school record in the triple jump!
Overall, the girls finished 3rd with 68 points and the boys finished 4th with 78 points.
