Like Columbine, our departure for Thunder Ridge was threatened by snow, but it wasn't excessive and we departed without delay or incident. Like Columbine, the weather was cool and became substantially colder during the afternoon. Still, it wasn't a bad day for racing.
There was stronger competition at Thunder Ridge and with Josh and Ella being away at Nike Indoor Nationals and still missing several other skiers of all varieties, we didn't have many top finishes. But we did have a lot of good performances and strong new personal records.
New Personal Records:
Lily - 800m in 2:41.18, a 2 second improvement
Lukas - 800m in 2:11.15, a 4 second improvement
Daniel - 800m in 2:30.77, an 8 second improvement
Malachi - 1600m in 5:12.95
Danny - 3200 in 11:58.94, a 5 second improvement
Avery, Paige, Ashley and Sophie ran a new season best 4x800 time of 11:13.90.
First High School Marks:
Paige - 800m in 2:51.12
Sophie - 3200 in 12:52.00
Cooper - 3200 in 11:28.18
Summit Milers Club:
3 boys joined Cain, Lukas and Ella in earning 2025 Summit Milers Club status, which requires running under 5:00 (boys) and 5:45 (girls).
Josh - 4:16.86 at Nike Indoor Nationals (for the full mile, which is 9 meters longer than a 1600)
John - 4:57.65 at Thunder Ridge
Owen - 4:58.56 at Thunder Ridge
Four boys have season bests within a second of each other!
It is still early in the season, but we are establishing a good base to build upon for faster late season times.
