7/8 April 2023
I was at Arcadia, so I’ll just touch on a couple of distance highlights from D’Evelyn. It was windy, so there were only 6 PRs and one SB. The 3200 PRs were when it was windiest, so are quite impressive.
Avery Eytel - 400 4” PR
Ashley Adkins - 800
Darby - 3200 24" PR
Claire - 3200
Owen - 3200 - 22” PR
Lukas - 3200
Cain - 3200 Season Best

Lindsey ran 5:14.77 in the full mile, which would be about 5:12.7 for the 1600. Even unconverted, that ranks Lindsey 4th in the SHS All Time list and 2nd Senior. Lindsey came back a few hours later in the 800 in 2:20.45.
Ella ran in the 3200 Invitational under the lights. She improved upon her performance last year by 7 seconds and 7 places in 10:06.19 for 6th place.

Summit Daily article - Ella Hagen blazes her way to new school record in California while Summit track team excels at home
A busy and productive week! Three meets – the Jack and Jill Relay races and D'Evelyn – both at Jeffco Stadium, and the Arcadia Invitational in California.
Distance highlights:
Jack and Jill Relays - a fun relays only, co-ed only meet for underclassmen and JV runners. Even the throws were scored relay style - the distances of two boys and two girls were combined into one team score. There was no official timing.
D'Evelyn - 13 Distance PRs! The big Jeffco Stadium scoreboard flashed "NEW MEET RECORD" twice for Summit runners!! Distance Runners won 4 events, including the boys sweeping the 800, 1600 and 3200!
Will 400 - 54.92 in first high school 400.
Will 800 - 2 sec PR, moves up 2 spots to #3 on the Sophomore rankings and 1 spot to #10 all time.
Carter 800 - 10 sec PR, moves up 4 spots to #3 on the Freshman rankings and enters the top 20 all time at #17.
Carter 1600 - 12 sec PR, moves up 2 rungs to #6 on the Freshman rankings and 8 rungs on the all time list to #15.
Cain 1600 - 3 sec PR, #10 on the Freshman list.
Josh 3200 - 18 sec PR. Second consecutive win. Moves up 1 rung on the Sophomore list to #2, surpassing 2014 State Champion Liam Meirow’s Sophomore time.
Dom - First Place in 800 and 1600.
Lauren - 400 3 sec PR
Avery 800 - 5 sec PR, moved up a rung to #7 on the Sophomore list and 3 spots to #13 all time.
Cece 800 - 3 sec PR, moved up 2 spots to #9 on the Sophomore list and 1 rung to #17 all time.
Adaline 800 - entered Junior ranks at #7.
Avery 1600 - 15 sec PR, entered the Sophomore list at #6 and moved up 9 rows on the all time list to #12.
Cece 1600 - 14 sec PR, advanced 3 spots on the Sophomore list to #7 and 6 spots all time to #13
Adaline 1600 - 9.5 sec PR, jumped 1 rung to #7 on the Junior list and 4 rungs to #15 all time.
Lauren - first ever 3200. First place. Enters the Freshman 3200 rankings at #2 and the all time ranks at #5.
Arcadia International - Ella ran 10:13.18 in the 3200, resetting her PR and the school record by 37 seconds. This meet is hyper competitive! 44 boys ran under 9:00, 19 under 8:50! 9 girls ran under 10:00. I would love for Arcadia to be a big goal travel meet next year for us. The entry standards are very high, although we receive a healthy altitude adjustment. Let's make it a goal to get there, individually or in relays.
Arcadia Invite - 3200 Highlights Video (all 4 evening races) Ella’s race starts just after 3:00. She is in the outside waterfall, in the orange shorts. Will Brunner and Porter Middaugh of Battle Mountain went 1,2 in the Rated race, which is first in this video.

Summit Daily article - 2022/4/9: Hagen shatters girls 1600-meter meet record by 23 seconds
It was a busy week! Three meets – the re-scheduled Columbine, Jack and Jill Relay races and D'Evelyn – all at Jeffco Stadium. Distance highlights:
Jonah ran his first high school races at the Columbine Invite. (He was the only distance runner sent.) Despite the fierce winds he ran a very good 2:25.46 800 and came back a few minutes later to run a 26.95 200. Jonah stepped into 15th place in the Summit Junior 800 rankings.
The Jack and Jill Relays was a fun relays only, co-ed only meet for underclassmen and JV runners. Even the throws were scored relay style - the distances of two boys and two girls were combined into one team score. There was no official timing. All the times mentioned here are my questionably accurate hand timing.
Paige led off the 4x800 in 3:03, which would be a new PR if official. Cece followed in a 2:52, which would also be a PR. Austin and James then followed with 2:46s. Bryce ran a 6:23 in the 1600 leg of the Distance Medley Relay, which would also be a PR. In the 1600, James and Austin fought it out the whole race, with a few lead changes in the last lap. James just edged out Austin in ~ 6:17.7 to 6:18.1. (Pretty much as fast as my thumb could move on the stopwatch.) Cece ran a solid 6:37 in her third race of the meet in quick succession. Following the meet, Bryce ran a solo 400 to see what he could do on a rubber track and ran a solid 1:11. There were a lot of other good performances, but I'm not sure my results are correct.
D'Evelyn - The distance runners PR'd in 8 out of 9 races! The big Jeffco Stadium scoreboard flashed "NEW MEET RECORD" twice for Summit runners!! The article by Cody Jones in the Summit Daily covers it well, but here are the highlights:
Ella shaved a few tenths off her school record and also broke the meet record by almost 23 seconds, winning by 30 seconds. She holds her 3rd place in the 4A State rankings.
Niamh PR'd by 2 seconds in the 1600, bringing her time down to 6:35.95. Niamh fought through the fatigue following in her first high school 800, for a thus new PR of 3:11.72.
Dom had a rough 1600, but came back with renewed determination in the 800 to win, PR and set another meet record! He was so close to going sub-2 in 2:00.10. A lot of good times were recorded this week, so despite improving his time, Dom fell in the rankings to 18th, right on the cusp of State qualifying. Taking another 1.5 seconds off his time should lock him into State.
Lucas continues to improve and set a couple new PRs every meet. He improved by a second in the 1600 and by a big 3.5 seconds in the 800. He is definitely learning how to race!
Jacob ran his first ever 1600 and set a solid benchmark of 6:32.64.
Did I miss anything??
