Finding the Clock

Wire

Artists Statement

For this project, my inspiration was the clock that I saw in the art room. It was a clock with a cool shape/outline. When I saw the clock, it reminded me of how I'm always looking at the clock and wanting to go home. The clock was basically my freshman year, how it has gone by so quickly and how I only have half a month of school left. I don't realize that I'm already through my freshman year until people started to talk about summer activities. Therefore, time means a lot to me and my school year.

I have created this project off of wire and the use of the fish-hook technique. The fish-hook technique is very useful when it comes to connecting two little pieces of wire together. When you bend the tip of two wire just like a fish hook and attaching them together. Also using a small plier to tighten the connection.

The make the final sculpture, I started with some warm-up by creating a stick of wire using the fish-hook technique. I also did a cube also using the fish hook technique. After, I started the clock by getting the shape of the bottom piece, I circled the wire around the clock. I also circled the wire around the top part of the clock. Since the clock has height and the shape is a little smaller than the bottom, I connected little pieces of wire with a little bent to it. I added the numbers 12, 3, 6, and 9 to the clock to show the time. However, I did not put the clock hands because I believe that it would look out of order and maybe too much on the clock.
