Artist Statement

In this pure contour section, I present the art with only pure lines. There's no shading or any additional art techniques to the pieces. The two types of art that I present on the cite is my hand holding an elastic and the three view of a shoe. These two images can present how lines interact with each other and shows how they form. I named the three view of the shoes "Green", "Black", and "White" because they are the three colors that form the shoe.

In these pieces of art, I used specifically an H pencil, B pencil, 2B pencil, and 6B pencil. I drew the pieces of art on a 9" x 12" drawing paper. Using an eraser. One extra paper to prevent smudges. Lastly, techniques that I use is the darkening the lines and using the pure lines.

In the four pieces of art, I begin the art by sketching the shape of the component with a H pencil. Once I've got the line sketched out lightly, I darken the lines to make it "pure". Something that I did to draw with B pencils is to have a piece of paper under my drawing hand, therefore my art won't be smudged. I spend more time on the lace/elastic part of the art because it interacts with the base of the art more than with the shape of the art. It is the part that have overlaps on it self or on the base of the art. After I finished darkening the lines, I used a darker B pencil (6B/2B) to bring the lines to a more dense volume. Lastly, I used an eraser to erase any smudge I have on the art.
