With the Flow

Gelatin block, paint, roller, and string

For this piece, "With the Flow" I was inspired by an art technique that uses with string and a book. For this project, I chose the color blue to do the layout on a gelatin block. Gelatin block prints are prints where you put paint or any water-based art supplies on the block, and you use a piece of paper you transfer the design that you have on to the white paper.

For this project, I used a gelatin block to print, paint to apply color, and some smaller material to apply the design. For the piece, "With the Flow", I used a string. to make the design. Last, I also have a roller that I used to roll on the paints onto the block.

The first thing I did was that I rolled the paint on a surface to cleanly spread the paint on my roller. Then I rolled my roller over to make sure that I have enough paint covering my gelatin block. Next, I rolled some paint on a string and set the string on the block in a random position while I have set a piece of paper on the string. An important step is that I pulled the string while I pressed the paper downward. Then a pattern showed up on my paper, I was surprised by the design that it came out with but the line of the string was too clear. Therefore, I pressed another white paper onto the block that has the leftover paint and design, and I got what I'm happy with now. So this piece is a print of a print.
