Artist Statement

This is an art piece of myself with a mask on. The reason why I decided to have a mask on instead of drawing my whole face is that I want to show a sign of 2020, something that's significant about 2020. The thing that I think is the most memorable is the virus, which a mask can symbol.

I made this piece by using grid form technique, meaning that I break the resource; the picture that I'm drawing, putting it in to sections. Then I draw the picture on to paper using graphite pencil, section by section.

For this piece, I begin drawing the boarder and putting the same grid section on to the drawing paper. Next, I begin to draw section by section. For hair, I used 6B and 4B. For this piece, I mostly worked with and 2H for sketch, and 2B for details. For shading, I used a paper pencil to add the shadows.
