Artist Statement

In this piece of art, I'm presenting up to eight different faces in it. Faces similar to a women, similar to an animal, and faces that are similar to face masks. Something that was cool about this piece was the faces can be found looking from different sides of the paper, vertically and horizontally. Something I learned while I was creating this artwork was that when I don't know what to draw, I can try to turn the paper to another side to see if there are any opportunities for drawing.

I used a thin sharpie first to just blind draw the three figure that I want to take shape of. The first figure that I took the shape of was my hand, hand that as in a "peace" shape. The second figure that I took the shape from was my self. I was drawing an outline of my self. Lastly, the figure that I drew was a classmate that was on the online class. I was looking off of her outline, trying to do the best I can while drawing in blind.

In this artwork, I used a sakura 08 sharpie and a pilot black pen. I began this art by drawing in blind. I first created two blind contour studies, then I extended/ added to it. To build up the faces, I first thickened the lines where the faces were going to take place. Then, I just build and/or added from the base of the first mask.
