sgraffito tile

To start my project, i took some clay, flattened it, then put it into a flatten machine to make sure it was perfect. I cut off the sides, and was left with my tile. i then applied 3 layers of underglaze and waited for it to dry. once it was dry, i began scratching out designs with a sgraffito tool. after that it was fired in the kiln. then i applied clear glaze and fired it again. i pretty much just scratched out designs i thought were cool and ones that just came to my head at the time. i had no intention of creating a specific design, and opted for a abstract free for all design which is exhibited on my tile. i think the project came out very successful, i like the design i made and i think the tile looks good. the only struggle was that another pot blew up in the kiln when my tile was being fired so there are some pieces of fired clay that are unfortunately stuck to my pot, but luckily not many and it doesn't impact the design.
