multiple pinch pots

for my multiple pinch pots project i took 5 pinch pots and put them together to form an abstract design, along with other parts sticking out of each of the pots. what i did was i first made all 5 pots. once i had the pots, i put them together so that they would look like they all meshed together, and so that they would support each other. this meant that i had to cut out parts of the pinch pots so that they would go together smoothly and truly look like they "melted" together. i then added rectangular slabs of clay to the outsides of the pinch pots. once everything was put together, i moved onto glazing. each pinch pot and each slab was a different color, which meant i had to be very precise when glazing, which was difficult. i used a lot of tape to make that process easier though. the glazes i used were SM-51, C-41, SM-27, SM-29, and SM-21. i wanted to create something abstract with the pots, and i thought it would look the best if they molded together. thats also partly why i decided to make every different pot a different color, to enforce the idea that these were pinch pots and not some weird abstract mess. also, before i glazed, i thought that some of the pinch pots weren't sticking out much as pots, which also led me to choose different colors for all different pots. i didn't put much thought into the glazes i chose, even though i ended up picking almost all semi-matte glazes. i just thought the colors looked good. i don't think it looks as good as i hoped, but i think thats also because i only made 5 pots. i think if i made more pots it would looks more better and more symmetrical, but that would've been time consuming. i also think that the choice to make the pots different colors made it look a lot better and was a good choice. but overall i like how it came out and i think the project was a success in the end.
