intro to coil pots

I used the coiling technique to build my pot, and then used a sgraffito tool to create outlines for the design i chose. i used a variety of different glazes to create a pattern in the design i made. as it was my first coil pot i made and only a formative i didn't spend a lot of time creating a design, and just picked a simple alternating pattern that faced in different directions at different points on the pot. i think the design looked good, but the choice to indent the lines as much as i did didn't turn out as i had hoped and i think the pot would look better if i had never done so. i don't really like how the pot turned out for a variety of reasons which also reflected one of my struggles. i accidentally started glazing before the pot was bisque fired and so i then decided to try and take all the glaze i had put on off because i forgot the name, which turned out to be a struggle. it was very hard to get the already dried glaze off and there ended up being some glaze remaining on the pot, which i had thought was enough, but it clearly wasn't as that glaze blended with the glaze i put on top when the pot was fired. i also just don't think my color selection in general was good at all, they don't look good together as there is a mix of light and dark colors and sadly, in my opinion, makes the pot look ugly.
