About Me

My name is Maddy Thomas and I was born in Lewiston, Maine. I have a younger brother named Andrew who is in 8th grade, and a cat named Piper. My career goal is to be happy with whatever job I find. I enjoy being outside and on the water so I plan on finding a job centered around that. In five years I see myself being out of college and having saved up enough money to travel, especially somewhere tropical. The only person I know outside of FHS who went to college for art is my boss (I work at North Face). Although that isn't very inspiring for someone who wants to pursue art in college, I find that he loves to talk about what he does and he shows me his work. I am most proud of my ability to try new things. In my free time I like to make jewelry, take my dad's boat out on the ocean, go for runs and play ping pong. I enrolled in this course because I loved photo 1, especially the darkroom, but also because I really enjoy having Mr. A as a teacher. One photographer whose photos I find dope would be Babak Tafreshi. I found him through the National Geographic Instagram and I really enjoy his work because he takes the coolest shots of the night sky. My ideal job would be centered around environmental science or teaching younger kids. Three adjectives others might use to describe me would be bubbly, loving, happy.

Gustav Klimt, The Kiss, 5'11" x 5'11", 1908

I like this artwork because of the small flowers and details that the artist used. My mom gave me a poster of this painting that she had hanging in her college dorm that is now hanging in my room, which makes this piece more sentimental.

Alan Claude, Lobster Boats on a Sunday Morning, 24" x 36",

I enjoy this artist's work because he makes prints that feel homey and familiar. Claude is a graphic artist that makes prints from local pictures all around New England.

Babak Tafreshi, Stargazers, 2022

This is the photographer that I mentioned above whose photographs I've recently liked. The night sky has always fascinated me and I found that Tafreshi has been able to capture the sky so beautifully.
