Sun and Whale

Clay Tile

Small Square

The main idea that guided this artwork was the sun and whales. Nature and ocean. I personally love to do landscapes and animals, and thats how I decided to do this. I based the entire clay scracthing off of this, I chose the blue glaze, I chose the squiggly water, the whale tail. I wanted this peice to be haooy and joyful, so I made the sun bright by sketching off more white.

The materials I used for this was clay, color, carving tools, and a glaze. I also used pliers at the end to pry off clay chunks.

I made this by first brainstorming on what I wanted to do. I wanted a simple design, but still had lots of fun. I chose a squiggly ocean, patterned whale tail, and a bright big sun. The process included what color to choose, which I did blue, and rolling out the clay. I marked my name with the stamps. I then let it dry for a class, before carving my design. I used different tools to create my ideas. When it was finished I painted it with glaze, and in the kiln it went. Unfortunately, another person's exploded spreading shards onto mine. I had to pry of chunks.
