Scratch Value Image

The main idea that guided this artwork was a safari image. It was from my camera roll when I went to Disney World. This image had lots of aspects and challenges to it including the background trees, bushes, and sky. The foreground had grass, rocks, and logs. Then there was the elephant as well. The image was what I based this entire scratchboard off. In fact I tried to recreate it as realistic as possible. I used different methods to attempt to make it accurate.

I used materials such as the scratch board paper, the scratcher pen, and printed image of the elephant in its habitat.

The creative process to create this included choosing the image from my camera roll. I had to choose something with different levels of contrast and change it to black and white. Then afterwards I had to print it out. I chose to both grid and trace it though graphite transfer. Using both these methods would help to create an accurate image. Afterwards I started with the top left corner then moving onto the entire thing. During the process I made a mistake of scratching too much white off. The sky turned into a white blob, am I not sure bow to fix it. I finished it off with my signature and called it good.
