Time Capsules

For our first time capsule we were instructed to draw a self portrait. I started with drawing my head and then my eye. My self portrait does not look anything like me at all. The problem I ran into when drawing my face, or a face in general is the proportions. Next time I do a project like this I have to remember to map out the whole face before I start so everything is in proportion.

For our second time capsule drawing we were instructed to draw a still life, something that was still in front of us. I chose to draw my water bottle. First I starting to work on the cylinder shape of the bottle. This took awhile to perfect because the way the bottle was positioned from my point of view. Eventually, I got to the shading of my drawing to make the drawing more realistic, and adding the small little details. In my opinion this was my best drawing overall out of my three time capsules, and the one I am most proud of.

For the final time capsule drawing we were instructed to draw a perspective drawing of a corner in the room. This time capsule drawing gave me the hardest time. The problem with my corner when I started to draw it was it didn’t look 3 dimensional at all. It looked flat. This problem took me awhile to figure out and fix. I added a couple of ceiling lines and it started to look more 3 dimensional but I still wasn’t very happy with it. I darkened some of the lines and it was looking a lot better. For this drawing it was all about sticking with it, and revising all my lines until it looked like a corner. Overall I am not very proud of that time capsule drawing but before our next one I would love to learn more tips to help me with my skills.
